The
Valencia region of Spain is an ideal location for cycling
or mountain biking, offering an excellent choice and
variety routes to suit all levels of ability for both cycling
and mountain biking. The 'Los Huertos' Spanish Sunshine Breaks
villa lies adjacent to a area known as 'La
Canal de Navarres' which is excellent for both cycling and
mountain biking. In addition, the villa's proximity to the
Spanish railway network offers convenient access to more distant,
varied and challenging cycling and mountain biking locations.

|
Commencing
only a few km from the villa, 'La Canal de Navarres' offer a
wide choice of routes. The roads have light traffic and the
distance between towns is short. The relative proximity of some
railway stations including the Villanueva de Castellon narrow
gauge regional railway aids access to different parts of the
area. Some asphalted tracks lead into the heart of the Caroig
massif, and there is an extensive network of trails for those
who prefer the mountain bike. |
|
To
the east of the villa and 16 km south from Valencia is the Albufera
Nature Reserve, a large fresh water lagoon which is a paradise
for migratory birds. On the way to El Palmar, where you can
take a boat trip over the Albufera Lake, you will ride through
beautiful countryside on ideal cycling roads. |
|
Among
the best areas for mountain biking in the Valencia Region are
the Maestrat, inland from the Costa Brava in the area called
Las Marinas, and around the Desierto de las Palmas near Benicàssim.
For some really heavy duty off-road cycling try the Marina Alta
region near Valencia. Here the winding Moorish trails offer
a thrilling ride but you will need to be in good physical condition
to tackle them. |
|
Many
Pro-Teams send their best riders to Valencia for the Vuelta
cyclista de Comunidad Valencia to prepare them for upcoming
challenges such as the Giro d'Italia, La Vuelta a España
and the Tour de France. The Vuelta cyclista de Comunidad Valencia
is a 5 day cycling event held at the end of February every year
and is considered one of the toughest pre-season cycling challenges. |
